What is a Triathlon?
Triathlon is an event in which you undertake 3 disciplines, swimming, cycling & running, one after the other with the clock running
 
Can I do a Triathlon?
Anyone can do a Triathlon. If you are looking for a rewarding challenge that’ll get you fit, Triathlon is for you
 
How much time do I need to train for it?
You can train to be proficient at the swim, bike, run and transitions in as little as 4 hours a week over a 6 week period.
 
What’s the minimum age for entry?
The minimum age is 15 years old by the end of the year (you will need a parent/guardians permission if under 18)

What equipment do I need?
Wetsuit recommended (will be a requirement if the water temperature is 14C or below)
Swimming Goggles recommended but not a requirement
Bike any kind will do mountain, road or hybrid but should be in good condition
Helmet SNELL,ANSI or CE Approved, no helmet means no ride
Running Shoes  
 
What equipment will be provided?
Swim Cap You will need to wear this for safety reasons
Triathlon Belt Attach your Race No’s to this and position the number on your back for the cycle and front for the run.
Race Nos These will go on your frame and triathlon belts

Do I have to wear a swim hat?
Yes, this is for safety reasons
 
Do I have to wear a wetsuit?
If the water temperature is 14C or below it will be compulsory, however it is recommend even if the water is warmer
 
What happens if the weather is too bad to swim?
We will move the swim and the first transition to Percuil and you will swim in the river
 
Do I have to wear a bike helmet?
Yes. You must wear a helmet whenever moving/riding your bike, this includes the transition areas, failure to do so may result in disqualification
 
Do I have to use a racing bike?
No, you can use whatever you like as long as it is in good condition
 
Is my bike safe in the transition areas?
As organisers we will do everything we can to make sure they are safe during the event but ultimately the equipment is left at your own risk. We will however have a restricted transition area and you will need your race & frame numbers to match to gain access or leave the transition areas
 
How will I get my bike back from St.Anthony (Transition 2)?
We will, for anyone who requests this, return your bikes to parking area where they will be looked after until you collect them. Although we will take care of your bikes during transportation we cannot accept any responsibility for any damage
 
When can I collect my bike from St.Anthony?
If you have not requested that we return your bike please wait until you are notified it is safe to do so. The roads to St.Anthony are narrow and we want to keep congestion to the minimum

Do I need a massage?
Massage is a great way to soothe and ease away the aches and strains after the race whilst aiding recovery. It’d be a good idea to prebook a post race massage when you arrive
 
Should I stay for the evening entertainment?
If your asking you are a person who needs to find out more about Portscatho’s legendary night time entertainments so why not come along, you know it makes sense!

How do I enter?
You can download our entry form and send your entry along with your payment to us.  Online entry should be available soon
 
Do I have to get sponsorsip to enter?
No, we are not forcing you to get sponsorship, just encouraging.  You are welcome to compete unsponsored or get sponsorship for another charity of your choice.
 
Can I enter as an individual?
Yes we accept entries from individual
 
Can I enter as a team?
Yes you can enter as a relay team of two or three with individuals doing one or two disciplines e.g. a different person does each discipline or one person does the swim and run and another does the cycle
 
How much does entry cost?
Entry will be £30 for an individual and £39 for a relay team
 
How do I know you have received my entry?
We will confirm receipt of your entry by email
 
What time do I need to be at the venue?
We will send you a race pack a couple of weeks before the event with details on where you need to be when
